Ghats are indeed magical - with their age-old staircases getting washed by the soothing sound of the river, they bear the footsteps of the lives of many. Exploring the ghats of Vrindavan, Mathura and Varanasi left a deep impression on me, which inspired me to create this set of 12 stone murals. These pieces are not only a mere translation of the architecture of the ghats, but they also mirror the tranquil
river at the ghats complemented with the hustle-bustle of the daily lives of those associated with the space. The mural pieces are like a reminder to the endless circular flow of our lives. The use of depth and a seamless geometric form in the murals is inspired from the methodology of Italian architect Carlo Scarpa.
